Our Lady of Victory Basilica

Fr. Baker Museum & OLV Shrine

Fr. Nelson H. Baker (1842-1936) is positioned to become the first American-born, male saint. In 2010 his museum, located in Our Lady of Victory Basilica (OLV) in Lackawanna, NY, was expanded and totally reinvented to share his life's story and the rich legacy of his work. The basement level of OLV was gutted and then renovated to precise specifications in order to provide a state of the art museum experience for the 20,000 guests that visit OLV each year. Schneider Architectural Services, PC was honored to have played a role in this rewarding project. During the intensive research and design process the entire team of architects, engineers, contractors and OLV staff gained a profound appreciation for this very special man. Fr. Baker's faith, vision and generous works of mercy are legendary in Western New York and, even today, the imprint of his work still resonates throughout the community. After completion of the museum project SDA assisted OLV with the design and construction of a new outdoor park, sculpture and shrine to honor Our Lady of Victory.
