After a two year search for the right home, Evans Bank relocated its corporate headquarters from its traditional home in the Southtowns to 6460 Main St in Amherst. The 50,000 square-foot building, formerly the home to Buffalo Cardiology and Pulmonary Associates, underwent a $7.1 million adaptive re-use in order to serve as the base of operations for the growing WNY banking institution. The completely renovated building would allow for Evans to centralize its operations, bringing its scattered administrative, IT, and insurance operations under a single roof, along with its 200 employees.
Schneider Architectural Services handled the entire design process and drew up a 21st century open office plan that would foster a culture of innovation and collaboration through enhanced communication. The space was also specially designed to encourage “creative collisions” among the bank’s employees.
The project began in 2019 and ran right through the Covid-19 pandemic with its doors opening in October 2020. Due to the impact of the pandemic on safety protocol in the workspace, a number of office safety elements were adopted, including glass partitions on the top of cubicles (which also allow for more light), key fobs at entry points, touchless faucets, and hard surfaces instead of fabric on cubicles in high traffic areas.
Evan Bank’s new home is an innovative corporate headquarters that focuses as much on employee collaboration as it does worker safety.
